Tom Hiddleston has described the mix between good and evil in Loki as a 'very fun fault-line to dance on'.

Hiddleston returns to the role of Loki next week as Thor: The Dark World hits the big screen.

The actor admits that has been asking questions such as 'is Loki redeemable' and that has allowed for an interesting dynamic with the other character.

Speaking at the global press conference the actor said: "The narrative that was afforded to me in the first was of this young prince who is brought up believing in his right to a throne and his Asgardian inheritance: but this whole story is a lie and he was adopted. That is what breaks his heart.

"All of his villainy and his bad guy credentials come from something deeply vulnerable.

"Across Thor, Avengers and The Dark World I can play a dynamic with Chris and with Anthony Hopkins and Renee Russo, which is, to what extent is he redeemable? Can he be brought back towards the light? It is a very fun fault-line to dance on."

Thor: The Dark World marks the third time that Hiddleston has taken on this character, and the first time since the monster success of Avengers Assemble last summer.

He reunites with Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, but it is all change in the director's chair as Alan Taylor takes over from Kenneth Branagh.

Thor: The Dark World is released 30th October.
