The Perfect Guy Tops U.S. Box Office

The Perfect Guy has topped the U.S. box office, bringing the one week reign of War Room to an end.

The Perfect Guy marks the return of David M. Rosenthal to the director's chair for the first time since A Single Shot back in 2013 and saw him team up with Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy, and Morris Chestnut.

The movie took $26.7 million in its opening weekend to topple War Room and just hold off the challenge from horror movie The Visit.

It was all about the new entries on the chart this week, as The Visit was also new at number two. The movie is the latest offering from writer and director M. Night Shyamalan and is his first film since After Earth.

War Room slipped two places this week from one to number three, while A Walk in the Woods was down one at four. There was no move for Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation as it stayed put at number five.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation is one of the biggest movies of the summer and has grossed $613 million at the global box office. It is currently the sixth highest grossing film of the year so far.

Straight Outta Compton was one of two four place fallers this week as the music biopic slipped from two to six. No Escape was another of the single place fallers as the Owen Wilson movie was down at number seven.

The Transporter Refueled was the second film to drop four places inside the top ten this week, as the film slipped from four to eight. 90 Minutes in Heaven was the third and final new entry this week, as the Michael Polish directed film opened at number nine.

90 Minutes in Heaven is an adaptation of the book by Don Piper and sees Kate Bosworth team up with Hayden Christensen on the cast list. Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos rounded off the top ten, slipped a single place from last week's number nine.
