Amell is best known for taking on the title role in D.C. TV series Arrow - a role that he has held since 2012.

However, the actor says that he would have no problem in switching from DC to Marvel should he be made an offer in the future.

During a Q&A session on his Facebook page, he was asked the question and answered: "Sure, why not? I'm up for roles - movie roles - although I've never really read Marvel Comics and I was always a DC guy even before I was a DC guy. But it's not like if I got offered an awesome Marvel superhero, I'd be like 'No, I can't.'"

Amell would not be the first actor to jump between the two comic book movie universes as Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje - who made an appearance in Thor The Dark World in 2013 - is set to star in Suicide Squad next summer.

It has been a busy year for Amell as we have seen the actor in the latest series of Arrow as well as making an appearance in TV series The Flash. Amell has also been linked to upcoming DC TV series Legends of Tomorrow.

However, the actor will be back on the big screen next year as he is one of the new faces on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows - the second film in the newly rebooted franchise.

The actor is set to take on the role of Casey Jones - a love interest for Megan Fox, who is reprising the role of April O'Neil. Dave Green is in the director's chair, while Alan Ritchson, William Fichtner, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, and Tyler Perry are just some of the other names that are on board.

Whether or not we are going to see Amell jump ship and join the Marvel Universe remains to be seen.
