Shailene Woodley made 'The Fault in Our Stars' director Josh Boone cry with her audition.
The 'Stuck in Love' director will soon begin filming the romantic drama - which stars Woodley as a cancer patient who falls madly in love with a fellow terminally ill cancer sufferer - and he revealed that the actress' emotional audition left him bereft.
He explained: "She was the first person that made me cry. I'd seen so many girls and I was just really moved. I knew within maybe a minute and a half after she started doing it [that she was right for the role]."
However, the filmmaker admits he had reservations about the young actress before her audition as he wondered if she could really capture the character of Hazel Grace Lancaster.
He told Collider.com: "I had met her and had a dinner with her and she was the nicest, most outgoing, coolest person, but I was like, 'She doesn't really seem like Hazel.' But then she came in and she was Hazel. She was a completely different person, with the physicality and everything. It was pretty amazing to see. I was just blown away by her."
'The Fault in Our Stars' is based on John Green's best-selling young adult novel of the same name.
