Joss Whedon has confirmed that Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch will still appear in Avengers 2.
Joss Whedon took part in a Q&A session at the Film Society of Lincoln Centre as they hosted 'An Evening with Joss Whedon' to celebrate the role of his new movie Much Ado About Nothing.
The future of Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch in Avengers 2 had been thrown into doubt when it was revealed that Quicksilver would be appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
When asked about the situation at the Q&A session the director said: "That’s not something I can really talk about, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be in the movie and they’re going to be AWESOME."
Whedon will be returning to the director's chair for Avengers 2 and is currently writing the script for the movie.
It is not yet clear which of the original cast members will be back but siblings Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are going to be on board.
Actress Saoirse Ronan has already been linked to the role of Scarlett Witch - the actress herself admitting that she would loved to be involved in a movie such as Avengers 2.
Filming is set to get underway next year for a summer 2015 release.
