Gravity

Gravity has made it three weeks at the top of the U.S. box office.

Gravity is a movie that has been lighting up the festival circuit and winning over audiences left, right and centre. And it continues to do well at the box office as it took a further $31 million over the weekend.

The movie is already being tipped as a major Oscar contender - don't be surprised to seeing this in the running early next year.

Captain Phillips is another film that was a none mover this week as it stayed at number two.

The film sees Tom Hanks take on the title role in a performance that has been heavily praised in recent week.

Carrie was the highest new entry on the chart this week as it opened at number three.

The film is a remake of the horror classic and sees Chloë Grace Moretz take on the title role, while Kimberly Peirce is in the director's chair.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 slipped a single place to four, while Escape Plan was new in at five.

Prisoners was another none mover at six, while Enough Said was the only film to move up this week: the final film from James Gandolfini jumped up four places to seven.

The Fifth Estate was the third and final new entry on the chart this week at eight as Benedict Cumberbatch returns to the big screen.

Runner Runner was the biggest faller as it dropped four places to nine, while Insidious: Chapter 2 was down three at ten.
