Bradley Cooper has described Jennifer Lawrence as 'special'.
Cooper and Lawrence team up for new movie Silver Linings Playbook and the actor admits he was surprised when she was cast in role because of her age.
But Cooper says it didn't take long to realise that the casting was spot on.
Speaking to Flicks and Bits the actor said: "There were a lot of women jockeying for that role, and she really wanted it.
She's young, she was only 21 at the time so I was like, 'Wow, she's going to play that character'.
"And I had one conversation with her on the phone and I knew right away that this was going to work, this dynamic was going to work. She's special."
The movie is a big screen adaptation of the novel by Matthew Quick and sees David O.Russell back in the director's chair.
But Cooper and Lawrence have worked together on a second movie Serena - which will be released next year.
As for Silver Linings Playbook the movie took the Toronto Film Festival by storm and is being tipped to be an awards contender.
Silver Linings Playbook is released 21st November.
