His solo career began in 1971 and he soon became a dominant figure in the music industry with a career that lasted over four decades.
Throughout his career he received numerous awards including several Grammy Awards, Grammy Legend Award and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
He also gained several Guinness World Records including the most successful entertainer of all time and his album Thriller was named in 1984 as the best selling album of all time.
