Style Icon Madonna

Style Icon Madonna

We look to celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss for fashion influence but where do the stars get their inspiration from? From other celebrities of course.

FemaleFirst will take a look at those celebrities, so iconic that they have inspired their fellow stars. Today we look at Madonna.

Madonna has always been a bit of a style icon, managing to reinvent her look every few years including the gothic phase for frozen, 1940s Hollywood glamour for Material Girl, the cowgirl look for Don't Tell Me and the leotard clad gym bunny look.

Her fingerless glove and tiered miniskirt phase is having another fashion moment after inspiring teenager of the moment, Miley Cyrus.

Miley is channeling Madonna's fingerless gloves, tiered miniskirts and leopard prints in her hit TV show Hannah Montana.

The show's costume designer Dalhia Foroutan says the look was created mostly for Cyrus' on-stage persona Hannah to wear but she has also slipped in some intentional flashbacks from Madonna's Lucky Star and Like a Virgin days when working on Miley's concert wardrobe.

Fifty year old Madonna has more recently been spotted wearing her hair in tight waves, a style that has not gone unnoticed with Lindsay Lohan, Vanessa Hudgens and Fearne Cotton both emulating this hairstyle.

Even Rihanna has confessed to getting her fashion skills from the Material Girl.

"I take a lot of inspiration from Madonna on stage," the singer confided to People.com.

"I love her costumes - they're so creative. They're very bold and fearless, and they make her seem like a very powerful and independent woman."
