Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole

As much as we love Cheryl Cole, we can't condone how gobby and a tad bitchy she has become lately.

Some would say, the cynics among you probably, that she's always been gobby and opinionated, but we like to think that Cheryl has not only matured since then, but gone on to become a national treasure.

Appearing on The X Factor last year seemed to raise Cheryl's profile dramatically, with the nation falling in love with her sweet nature, brutal honesty and of course her fabulous style.

Ahh yes of course, her style. Never has someone's rise to fashion fame been more documented than Cheryl's emergence as a modern day style icon. As soon as she made her first appearance on the panel at the audition stage, her fate was sealed.

Fashion editors and style snappers were quick to realise her potential and not only dissected her look, but found high-street copies for those who wanted to look like Cheryl- let's face it, who would turn that down?!

As the show progressed to the final stages, Cheryl upped it a gear with on-trend wet look leggings, puffball dresses, cutout gowns and sequined headbands; she was a walking advertisement for fashion labels.

Added to that her weight loss and amazingly coiffed hair extensions made her a body and beauty icon too, all in all Mrs Cole was becoming a catwalk queen without even knowing it.

She made her official debut on the catwalk at Naomi Campbell's Fashion Rocks charity event, last September and you could argue it all snowballed from there, with people really starting to take notice of the Girls Aloud star.

As Cheryl's fashion star rose, the magazine offers flooded in for her to appear in some of the world's most gorgeous couture, as did all the offers from designers for Cheryl to appear in their clobber.

One particular incident did send the ball rolling into a downward spiral for the star, and that was her appearance in last month's Vogue magazine. At the time it was a fashion match made in heaven, despite people questioning Cheryl's credentials for appearing on the cover of one of the world's most prestigious magazines.

However, the Vogue issue in question has caused a bit of tension since its release, not least because Heat reported that Cheryl had stormed out of the photoshoot in a strop, but also because of comments on other celebs.

Cheryl fiercely denied she had left the studio in anger and Heat later apologised for any harm that it may have caused her. Despite this, there was now some major controversy surrounding its release, before anyone had even read what was inside.

Her apparent bitchy comments about former friend Victoria Beckham shocked many, and has reportedly caused something of a media war between the two now, although we're sure much of it has been exaggerated.

If there was a small chance that Cheryl didn't mean anything by her comments in the magazine, she ruined it a week later by declaring that Posh's designs were for older women and she wouldn't wear them. Ouch.

Not only that, but Peaches Geldof and Alexa Chung also came under fire in the interview, as well as some WAGS who she implied weren't exactly the most intelligent of creatures either.

The fact that all this came within about a week of each other, probably didn't do wonders for Cheryl's perfectly constructed image and a small amount of backlash seemed to be brewing.

That said, things seemed to have settled down since the whole issue flared up and Cheryl has wisely been keeping a low profile.

We can see it all ending in tears for our new fashion star if she allowed this bitchy streak to contniue, so we're glad she seems to be keeping her opinions and comments to herself now.
