Spice Girl Melanie Brown has hired Gloria Allred to fight her court case against Eddie Murphy over child welfare payments. The pop star recently voiced her disgust at her former flame's behaviour since he announced their break up on a Dutch TV show last year (06) and denied fathering her then-unborn child. Brown received paternity test results last month (Jun07) proving the Dreamgirls actor is the father of baby Angel Iris, and on Wednesday (25Jul07), the singer admitted she may have to resort to legal action to get him more involved in his daughter's upbringing.The singer has already hired the services of Los Angeles-based Allred - a powerful lawyer known for her tough witness examinations - who is also presenting the sexual assault case against NYPD Blue actor Esai Morales. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "She (Brown) is expected to lobby Murphy for child support commensurate with his big income. If I were Murphy I would be nervous." When Brown became pregnant Murphy refused to accept that the child was his until parternity test was taken after the child's birth.It was revealed that Murphy was in fact the father of the child.

Recent claims by the singer stated that the baby with Murphy was planned.
