Lydia Bright and Sam and Bille Faiers have put their dancing feet forward in the most stylish workout DVD I have seen in a very long time.
'The end of the month sees the release of the The Essexercise Workout, just in time to get ready for the party season and I managed to get my hands on a sneak preview to see what it was all about.
The routine is designed by one of the UK's top choreographers, Glenn Ball and top fitness trainer Deanne Barry. It mixes retro club-classic dance routines with dance combat moves and fast paced cardio.
On the DVD there are three seperate 20 minute sections, that can be played all together for an hour-long workout and they each come with their own warm-up and cool-down parts.
The sections are:
Totally Retro Reem - dancing to club classic tracks
Burn those carbs before Marbs - cardio combat moves put into dance-based fitness routines
Well Jel Workout - a faster paced cardio with tone-up techniques as well
The only problem with the workouts are that they're a little hard to keep up with. Expect the fun and the faketan but there's little direction so you can get lost quite easily. I'd recommend watching the workouts first and then you'll have some idea of what's coming next.
But the best part of the DVD has to be the featurettes. Harry Derbidge makes an appearance as the girls have some smoothies, get dressed up in Minnies and have a face pack, plus much more. They're classic TOWIE footage, perfect for all of the fans - including me.
We caught up with Lydia, who tells us a bit about the DVD.
How do you feel now you’ve done the routine for a while?
We all feel really toned and good in ourselves.
What were you unhappy with before you started this regime?
I’ve always been happy with my legs and if I don’t exercise enough my belly gets flabby, but now it’s toned up and I’ve got abs!
What’s been the most positive thing to come out of shaping up?
It’s an hour long with three 20 minute sections each with warm up and cool down. It’s really good if you’ve only got twenty minutes you can just do one section combat or cardio. I’d do the dance before you go out as you don’t build up a sweat but it makes you look really good, it defines you.
It gives me confidence to get in a bikini and gives me much more energy; I only need seven hours sleep.
Now that you’re famous, how has your life changed?
My life has changed a lot. It’s becoming more normal now as it’s been nearly a year, but we get to do really cool things and go to amazing parties. It gives us the platform to form a career and do things I’ve always dreamed of.
You’ve lost a lot of weight since series 1 – tell us about your personal journey
I have definitley lost a lot of weight from the first series to the second series. I’m always active now not just sitting in an office. I really enjoy exercising and eating the healthy food.
What are your top three beauty secrets?
Always uses Moroccan Oil products, they’re really good for your hair. I always use Fake Bake Air Brush because it’s really natural and you don’t have to use your hands and get them all orange. I always use Eyelure (fake lashes) all Essex girls do. I use more natural ones during the day but bigger ones at night.
What are your work-out must haves?
A good sports bra is essential, especially if you have big boobs, like Billie. And get a really good pair of trainers.
Now that you have revealed your new look, will you be persuading Arg to shed the pounds?
Arg has been dieting and eating healthily, he always goes through spells of being really good and then not, so I try to encourage him when he’s being good. He does make an effort when he sees me getting fit, so I try to support him and I will be encouraging him to do the DVD! I also eat as healthy as I can, but we do indulge, we go for nice meals and James loves a curry. He’s always loved his food but I just encouraged him to exercise.
You are known for your style, do you prefer designer to high-street?
There’s so much on the high street recently, it’s become so much more high quality and there are really good designs. I do love designer, but I like mixing and matching, designer, high street and vintage all in one outfit. My dress today is from Beyond Retro and my boots are from ebay. I sell a lot of my clothes on ebay, stuff I’ve been seen wearing and some vintage stuff, and some of the money goes to charity, Haven House Hospice, a local Hospice in Essex.
