Jeannie Mai has been forced to quit 'Dancing With the Stars' after being admitted to hospital.
The 41-year-old TV presenter has left the show after being diagnosed with epiglottis, a potentially life-threatening condition that can cause swelling and block airflow to the lungs.
Jeannie said in a statement on 'Good Morning America': "My doctors discovered a health concern with my throat which requires immediate attention and surgery.
"I am heartbroken that my 'DWTS' journey has to end here."
'The Real' co-host added: "I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we've come."
Jeannie and her professional partner Brandon Armstrong had become fan favourites on the 29th season of the dancing series and Brandon said he was "devastated" that they have had to leave the competition.
In a video message, he said: "Guys, we are devastated by the news that we're gonna have to cut this season short.
"But Jeannie's health does come first. Thank you to all the fans that have helped get us this far and we are praying for a speedy recovery from Jeannie."
Monday's (02.11.20) episode of the show had been due to feature a double elimination but now only one couple will leave following Jeannie's exit.
'Dancing With the Stars' added in a statement: "Jeannie has inspired us, along with millions of fans, with her energy and dedication. We wish her a full and speedy recovery.
"Since Jeannie had to withdraw from the competition, tonight's show will feature the eight remaining couples and a single elimination."
