Cazzie David woke up "screaming in agony" thinking about Pete Davidson's romance with Ariana Grande.
The 26-year-old actress broke up with Pete shortly before he started dating the pop star and after learning that he'd covered up his tattoos dedicated to her, Cazzie remembers shaking "uncontrollably".
Cazzie - who has recalled her heartbreak in her new book, 'No One Asked for This' - told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: "It was a really pivotal moment in my life and writing about it has caused me a ton of anxiety, especially because I talk so much about hating the attention it brought me.
"Why would I bring more attention to myself by writing about it? But there’s nothing that’s gonna be worse than what I already experienced with that."
Cazzie found the situation especially tough to deal with because Pete and Ariana's romance was so high profile.
But her dad, comedy star Larry David, urged her to move on.
In her book, she recalled him saying: "CAZZIE, COME ON! YOUR ANCESTORS SURVIVED THE HOLOCAUST! (sic)"
Cazzie had actually tried to end their romance before she finally did, but had always been reluctant to do so because "self-harm and suicide threats had come about from trivial circumstances".
Pete and Ariana, 27, ended their relationship in 2018, while the comedian and Cazzie are now good friends.
In fact, she even thanks him in her book’s acknowledgements.
Cazzie writes: "Pete. I love you...Your bravery inspires me and your friendship means the world to me."
Meanwhile, Larry thinks his success has made it tough for Cazzie to be "taken seriously".
The comedy star - who co-created 'Seinfeld' and stars in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' - said: "Cazzie is the one who’s mortified that she grew up in a famous family.
"It’s a difficult thing to be in her position and still want to be taken seriously."
