Joe Biden has vowed that Vladimir Putin will never win in Ukraine.
Joe Biden's support for Ukraine will not waver
The US President pledged that Western support for Kyiv "will not waver" and branded Putin as a "dictator bent on rebuilding an empire".
In a landmark speech in Poland on Tuesday (21.02.23), Biden said: "Brutality will never grind down the will of the free. Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. Never.
"There should be no doubt. Our support for Ukraine will not waver, NATO will not be divided, and we will not tire. I speak once more to the people of Russia. The US and European countries do not seek to destroy or control Russia.
"The West is not plotting to attack Russia, as Putin said today. Millions of Russian citizens, who only want to live in peace with their neighbours, are not the enemy."
Addressing crowds at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Biden warned there would be "hard and bitter days" ahead but said that the Ukraine war has strengthened the West's resolve to defend democracy across the globe.
The president said: "The defence of freedom is not the work of a day or a year, it's always difficult. But Ukraine is steeled for the fight ahead, and the United States, our allies and partners continue to have Ukraine's back as it defends itself.
"Democracies of the world will stand guard over freedom today, tomorrow and forever. We have to have security in Europe. It's that basic, that simple, that consequential."
