In certain parts of the world, such as Canada and France, donkeys are given custom-made trousers to wear to stop flies from biting their legs.

At the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada, volunteer Sheila Zanyk made one of their donkeys a pair of fashionable trousers to prevent his legs getting hurt throughout the summer season.

Speaking to CTV News.ca, she said: ''It took a few tries but it's working well now.''

The donkey, whose name is Ben, struggled at first after being frightened by the sound of Velcro - but he soon adapted and now has two pairs of chic trousers.

Sheila added: ''The first time we put them on him, he was really proud of himself. He walked around the whole barnyard - just 'look at me, look at me.'''
