Chris Eubank is "shocked and stunned" by Lady Colin Campbell's departure from the 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' jungle.
It was revealed this morning (02.12.15) that the royal biographer has quit the show on "medical grounds" and her former campmate - who was voted off last night (01.12.15) - has insisted he had no idea she was planning to leave.
He said: "I haven't seen her and I knew nothing about her departure. I'm as shocked and stunned as you are."
The former boxing champion opened up about his relationship with Lady C and claimed he was more of a "carer" to her than an "ally".
He told ITV's 'Lorraine': "While I was there, I was more her carer. She's fragile, she's 66. The terrain is treacherous. I mean, for instance at the creek, where we did the washing one day, it only takes one fall for her to actually be in real trouble so therefore I was always caring for her."
The 49-year-old star also insisted he found it hard to hear her throw insults at the other celebrities, including Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley and former Dragon's Den star Duncan Bannatyne.
He added: "I was brought up at a time where we had to respect our elders, so I see her as a mother figure. Now, the vitriol that she has used against some of the campmates, I can't defend that. It's a conundrum because I'm her carer but at the same time it looked as though I was her ally, of which I was, but not when she said particular things. What she said about Tony was not nice and she said, 'Look, if a bully bullies you that's the way you deal with them and I am not at all regretful of how I treated him'. That was hard to stomach for me, but it is what it is."
Following Lady C's departure, the next celebrity to be voted off the show will leave in tomorrow (03.01.15) night's episode rather than tonight's (02.11.15).
