The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant - who is partnered with Nikita Kuzmin, 25 - has opened up about all the online hate he has been getting since joining the BBC talent show and insisted he lucky to have a "thick skin" as he attempts to brush off all of the negativity ahead of competing in the grand final next weekend.

After a fan told haters to leave Layton alone, the 29-year-old actor replied in a post on X - formerly known as Twitter - writing: "Luckily I have thick skin but it's so draining that so-called 'Strictly fans' go out of their way to drag me down to lift others up.

"Their fave couples would be SO embarrassed by their comments and so should they. They'll never dim my shine, Big love.”

Layton also revealed on social media that his grandmother had no clue he was in a same-sex partnership on the show and when she found out, she insisted she's just pleased he's “happy”.

He posted: “Just rang my Nan in Jamaica and she managed to watch some of Strictly at a friends house on the computer.

“She didn't know I was dancing with a man but said she loved it and doesn't care so long as I'm happy.”

The ex ‘Bad Education’ star wowed the judges this week and snagged a rare standing ovation from Craig Revel-Horwood after his Charleston.

The 58-year-old television personality told Layton - who earned a perfect 40 for his Paso Doble - that it was “the best Charleston that I have seen in 20 years”.

Craig’s colleague Motsi Mabuse, 42, added: “There is nothing that has been better, and this is a testament to your hard work and anyone around you, well done.”

Layton is set to compete in the final alongside Ellie Leach, 22, and Bobby Brazier, 20.
