During the first episode of new show The Taste, Nigella Lawson's life was put in danger when she nearly choked on a spoon.
The TV cook and two other experts, Ludo Lefebvre and Anthony Bourdain, set out to find the UK's best chef with 'blind auditions', which sees them sample a spoonful of food from each contestant without knowing who cooked it or what ingredients were used for the dish.
However, the brunette beauty found herself in a spot of bother when she tried some truffle-glazed monkfish and the spoon cracked in her mouth, resulting in her having a coughing fit.
Worried Ludo asks her: "Oh my God. Did you crack the spoon? Are you OK?"
Nigella replies: "Something in there cracked on me."
Later on in the show, when the contestant who cooked the monkfish comes into the room for the judges' verdict, he gets a telling off.
Ludo shouts at him: "It's sabotage. You tried to kill us today."
Meanwhile, viewers will see the trio whittle 25 hopefuls down to just 12 but, with no-nonsense Nigella on the panel, contestants look set for a tricky time.
Speaking of Nigella, Anthony says: "There is an iron fist behind that velvet glove."
'The Taste' will air tonight - January 7, on Channel 4 at 9pm.
