David Tennant appeared on Good Morning Britain this week, and of course was grilled about the highly anticipated third season of ITV drama Broadchurch.

The actor revealed that the third series is currently being written by writer and creator Chris Chibnall, but other than that, he couldn't give many details.

"I have absolutely no idea. I genuinely don't know. I don't know what [Chris Chibnall] will do, and I don't know which direction he'll take it in. I can't wait to read.

"There are scripts, I am told. There are two scripts, I think. But I have no clue what is in them. I don't suppose I'll know untilnext year sometime."

Fellow Broadchurch castmember Olivia Colman had previously confirmed that she was scheduled to film the third series in summer 2016.

Meanwhile, David is currently promoting new Marvel/Netflix series Jessica Jones, where he plays villain Kilgrave, AKA The Purple Man.

In the future though, he's looking forward to trying out something new: "I would love to do a panto, I think I would like to be a dame or maybe Buttons, I don't know. There's still time for this year, all offers being accepted."

He is of course no stranger to theatre, having started there for many years at the beginning of his career.

New series Jessica Jones is available on Netflix in all territories where the streaming service is available from Friday, November 20.
