The 41-year-old presenter - who is taking a break from the spotlight to get help after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving last week - is "thrilled" his presenting partner is expecting his first child with wife Ali Astall, but can't help but feel "heartache" because he always wanted children of his own with estranged wife Lisa Armstrong.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Ant is thrilled for Dec and Ali but the news sparked other emotions because he has always wanted children.

"There is some heartache and it is a bittersweet moment. Ant has gone into rehab and has recently split from his wife Lisa, so his life is just not the same as the one Dec has right now."

The 'Saturday Night Takeaway' presenter was arrested after hitting two cars in his black Mini sports car while driving with his mother in Richmond, south west London on Sunday (18.03.18) and Metropolitan Police later confirmed they have charged Ant with drink driving.

The television presenter was interviewed under caution at Kingston police station last Wednesday (21.03.18) and is set to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on April 4.

Soon after the crash, ITV confirmed that Ant - who underwent treatment for prescription drug and alcohol addiction last summer - has checked back into a treatment facility.

It has now been announced that Dec will front the last two episodes of 'Saturday Night Takeaway', on March 31 and April 7, alone.

He said in a statement posted on Ant and Dec's Twitter account on Wednesday (21.03.18): "Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of 'Saturday Night Takeaway' will go ahead.

"We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that. Everyone at ITV and the Takeaway team feels we owe it to the audience to complete the series. Dec x. (sic)"
