Britain's Prince Charles protest plans have fallen foul of a nationwide firefighter strike.
The 65-year-old royal has been forced to alter plans to set fire to a pile of clothing at Clarence House this morning (12.06.14) in order to showcase the value of wool because of the Fire Brigades Union's 24-hour strike across England and Wales over pensions.
The live show would have seen Charles alighting hazardous synthetic items alongside less flammable wool clothing and household materials on a stage as part of his work with Campaign for Wool.
The resourceful royal was forced to perform the stunt yesterday (11.06.14) instead and will screen the video during a reception today in honour of the Campaign's fifth anniversary.
A spokesperson told the Daily Express newspaper: "The demonstration to show the fire retardant properties of wool will no longer take place live, due to industrial action by the FBU.
"Instead, a short film of the demonstration will be played."
The Prince of Wales is still going ahead with his plan to bury two jumpers, one wool and one synthetic, in the Clarence House garden to prove that wool biodegrades quickly in soil whereas synthetic materials can take up to 40 years.
