Honey Ryder release a new single, ‘Annie's Song’, on 24th December. The single has been added to their second studio album ‘Marley’s Chains’ which was released on 6th August via Oceanic/EMI.
The first three singles from the album, ‘Marley’s Chains’, 'You Can't Say That' and 'Worlds Away' have all been playlisted on BBC Radio 2 and across the Smooth network, along with BBC Local and several of the Bauer regional stations.
'Annie's Song' has already been snapped up by telecoms giant TalkTalk, who are using it in their current national TV campaign 'Model Britain'.
Both the music video and advert were filmed on location at the world’s oldest model village, Bekonscot Model Village and Railway in Buckinghamshire, which opened its doors for the first time in 1929.
Written by John Denver, the song was recorded by the band whilst in Nashville during their writing sessions for Lady Antebellum.
'It was a spur of the moment decision' recalls Lindsay. 'I'd been singing along to the original only the day before, and we all started talking about how much we loved the song. It's one of my favourite songs of all time, my parents used to play John Denver's music when I was growing up, and it has always had a special place in my heart.
'So when we had a spare hour at the end of the day's recording, we decided to go in and jam it, and it came together very organically and very fast. Jason played a lovely acoustic part with some unorthodox open tuning, and Matt's emotive Ebow part really added to the depth.'
The band called upon long term collaborator Carl Marsh (REM, Shania Twain) to write the orchestral arrangement, which was recorded at the legendary Ocean Way Studios in Nashville. The track was mixed by one of the UK's hottest new mix engineers, Paul Gatehouse.
Following TV appearances on ITV 'This Morning', BBC Breakfast and Channel 5 'Live with Myleene Klass', Honey Ryder are currently enjoying early international airplay, with 'You Can't Say That' gathering momentum at US radio, and a string of US dates already confirmed for Spring 2013.
Forthcoming UK dates include a headline show at London's Islington Academy, a Love Live Music show for Smooth Radio, and an exclusive Up Close & Personal gig for Bauer's Wave 105.
