Following the release of his brand new album ‘÷’, Ed Sheeran has seen unprecedented levels of streaming success on Spotify, breaking a number of records within his first day of release.
Almost doubling the record set by the previous record holder (The Weeknd), he saw the best first day streams for a new album, with 56,727,861, along with taking the best one day streams for a single track, taking in 10,123,630 streams for ‘Shape of You’.
In total, he saw the best one day streams for an artist, with 68,695,172, smashing previous record holder The Weeknd’s total of 40.3 million streams in November, 2016.
All 16 tracks on the albums went straight into the Spotify Global Top 50 streaming chart, with all of the tracks also going into the Top 50 in 13 markets, including the UK, Canada and Australia.
In the UK and Ireland, the album makes up the entire Top 16, which you can see in the screenshot below:
