Energetic Welsh alt-rockers ‘King & Country’ are ready to stake their claim as one of the exciting new breed of bands to break through in 2013, and they are fully equipped with their stunning new EP ‘Mountains’, out 6th May, which is jam-packed with killer tracks and sure to set the hotly-tipped quartet apart from the masses.
Sparking glowing comparisons to ‘Story of The Year’ and rising UK stars ‘Lower Than Atlantis’, King & Country bond together a crafty tunesmith approach with a sincere and energetic delivery.
Born in 2011, in Bridgend (Home to Bullet For My Valentine), deep in the valleys of South Wales, King & Country are made up of twins Ashley (Lead Vocals and Guitar) and Thomas Taylor (Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals), with Ben Taylor (no relation) handling the Bass, and Matthew Smith on Drums.
Formed during University, the aspiring foursome soon set about recording their very first EP with Dan Lancaster (Mallory Knox and Don Broco).
The record racked up strong accolades from the underground press and the band toured extensively throughout Wales in support of the EP, sharing stages with Exit Ten, Futures, and Straight Lines in the process.
The time is now right for King & Country to break out to a national level and the band have the tools in the form of their new EP ‘Mountains’, which was recorded with Romesh Dodangoda (Kids In Glass Houses, The Blackout, Funeral For A Friend) at the helm.
From the punchy opening riff and rampant melodies of ‘One For The Weekend’, to ‘Cherish What You Have’s anthemic stomp-rock, followed by the perfectly honed pop-rock of ‘Not Alone’, and the muscular riffage and soaring rhythms of ‘Soldiers’, it’s evident that K&C have nailed down a genuinely breath-catching record that is destined to draw fans in with its hugely infectious pull.
Even before its May release, the EP has already garnered national BBC Radio One airplay, courtesy of their new number one fan, Jen Long. And with many new supporters joining by the day, BIG things are afoot for these fiery youthful upstarts.
