For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?
It's acoustic pop, with hooky melodies. Intense and heartfelt lyrics about life, love and pondering.
What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?
It's tough getting people to come to shows and to play on the road at respected venues. But I'll keep trying.
How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?
Out of my home town, it's quite difficult. It's like being a small fish in a really big pond.
How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?
Most of my songs are co-written with Chris Gorman who is based in Glasgow. We bounce off each other and always know what the finished product should sound like.
Where do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?
My influences come from a wide range of artists - anything from the Bee Gees to Charlie Simpson. I get a lot of inspiration from friends and family. A lot of stories in songs come from experiences of the people I know.
If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?
I'd love to work with Ryan Tedder. He's a magnificent songwriter.
Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.
It's not funny, but a random fact is that I recently won "most entertaining performance" in a local Strictly Come Dancing.
Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?
I want people to hear my songs and get some recognition for what I'm passionate about.
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
Touring the UK as a support act for a cool band, big singer/songwriter or headlining my own tour!
What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
I'll be releasing a music video over the next coming weeks. Look out for it!
