Growing up in the estates of County Armagh, Northern Ireland, three boys found inspiration through Manchester band Oasis. Over years of performing and perfecting their art with many influences, they are now ready to show case their material as ‘Ignition’ and are heralded as one of the best live acts to come out of Northern Ireland.
Hello there little monsters, what are you up to?
Well hello… Just back from picking up our manager from the airport and gearing ourselves for some great gigs this week
So, tell me about what you're here to promote?
We're hear to promote our debut single "Take Me There." We're a three piece indie rock band from Armagh N. Ireland called Ignition. The single is due for release in May.
And if we didn't have any clue as to who you were, what should we be looking up on Google?
We're on all the social network sites such as bebo, myspace, facebook and twitter etc and have also our own official site. Generally if you just type Ignition Armagh into Google, you'll find quite alot of stuff about us.
And as Jacko had the Moonwalk and Elvis had the snake hips, what do you have that makes you unique?
We have a very unique sound I suppose that you don’t hear around anymore. Its very raw and rocky, and doesn't sound like anything out there at the minute. The only other unique thing I can think of that we have, is our drummer having a Jedward fringe thing going on.. Sorry dave.. but it is quite unique
Now, clearly we need to get to know each other more, so tell me an interesting fact about you that noone else knows?
Not many people know that I used to play the violin.. I'm actually grade 3 in it. But that was a long time ago.
What song do you wish you'd written?
I really wish I’d written the song by Oasis called "Don't Look Back In Anger." It's one of my favourite songs of all time, and gets me in a good mood. It just gets better and better with every listen.
If I was contemplating coming to your show or sitting at home and TV, how would you convince me to come out?
I would ring you up and tell you how great our band was, and how mental our gigs were, and then send a taxi round to your house so that you would just have to get in.
And if you were to take me on a trip to your hometown, what would be the first place we'd go?
I would take you to our mate Dan’s house for a big old carryout, then round every shit pub in Armagh to meet the good old local folk.
What's the best prank you've ever pulled on someone?
Best pranks would have to be when mates start to fall asleep after quite alot of drink and you go up to their face and start roaring your head off and they wake up so quick, face white as a ghost, completely freaked out. Might not sound that great, but you want to see it in action, it’s so hilarious.
And what's the most daring thing you've ever done? Please tell us how it ended up!
Probably a gig in some dive locally, when we arrived some guys ran by us with baseball bats after robbing a shop next to the pub were we were meant to play, and walking into the pub with all our gear, and realising it was like something out of Shameless.. Skin-headed men everywhere and the women all had tattoos! We wanted to get out of the place straight away, but we had to stay and play as our lift drove on.
If you had to date a member of the same sex who would it be? Mine would ALWAYS be Angelina Jolie.
Mine would probably be that girl Amelle Berabah out of the Sugababes.
Have you ever been naked in public? Elaborate.
No, and hope I never will be. Though I do know some mates that have.
Have you ever been arrested? Again, elaborate.
Yea a few times… Once for going out with a mate on a joyride in a stolen car. Then for stealing a bus after a gig, that was used to bring our fans up. Was a very costly drunken mistake, and mates still talk about it to this day.. Then on my brothers stag weekend in Newcastle, me and our bass player got arrested for fighting with bouncers in some club.
Speaking of prison - if you were to send someone to prison for crimes against music, who would it be?
Anyone that’s ever appeared on the X Factor… They should all be sent to some island with no way back to shore.
What were you doing last night at 11?
It was St.Patricks day, so me and all my mates were out in town getting pissed.. Don't remember much but know it was a good night.
