What Happens After The Show?

After 9 series of the successful show, The X Factor, just like anything, needed a new lease of life, and my, haven't they just done that!

It was recently reported that the boot camp proceedings had an exciting twist as the contestants, as well as the judges, began the series already aware of which category they will mentor, at the beginning of the process, rather than before the live shows.

So in honour of the 10th series, starting on our TV screens on the 31st August, we have created a list of the most successful acts to have come from the show.

One Direction

Although they finished third in the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010, they have had an array of success over the past three years. Originally auditioning as solo artists, at the final auditions, it was Nicole Scherzinger who thought that they would make the perfect band, and boy was she right!

Some people say that the social media has been a big influence on making them the stars that they are, but the talent that these five lads have is undoubtedly recognisable.

One Direction's debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful' reached number one in the UK singles chart and became the most pre-ordered Sony Music Entertainment single in history.

They have sold 19 million singles and 10 million albums in total and if that isn't enough their achievements include two Brit Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards.

The boys album 'Up All Night' became the UK's fastest selling debut album of 2011 and topped the charts in sixteen countries.

Not only have they gained a mass of success in the UK they are very popular in the United States too. Releasing 'What Makes You Beautiful' in February 2012, it debut on the BillBoard Hot 100 at number 28, becoming the highest debut for a British act since 1998, selling over 4 million copies in the US.

Their album 'Up All Night' made history as the boys were the first British group to enter at number one in the US chart.

The five talented lads have got a great future ahead and I'm sure they will break their own records along the way.

JLS

'Jack The Lad Swing' are the handsome boy band which consist of J.B. Gill, Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and Oritsé Williams and in 2008 became the runners up on the hit show.

This did not stop them reaching the success that they so longed for. They achieved two number ones with the singles 'Beat Again' and 'Everybody in Love.' They released their debut album 'JLS' in 2000 and later sold one million copies in the UK.

Adding to the impressive list, JLS also achieved awards for British Breakthrough Act and British Best Single with 'Beat Again' in 2010. They have also won several awards at the MOBO's with 'Beat Again' winning Best Song along with Best Newcomer. The following year they also bagged themselves two more awards from the MOBO's for Best UK Act and Best Album.

In 2012 they achieved a fifth MOBO for Best Video with 'Do You Feel What I Feel?' With all the awards its easy to see why they won the title of the UK'S Hardest-Working Band for two consecutive years in 2001 and 2012.

'The Club Is Alive' was from there second studio album, and earned the band their third number one on the UK Singles Chart and 'She Makes Me Wanna' became their fifth UK number one.

Something to shout about came in 2012 when the lads were named one of The X Factor's top ten biggest-selling debut single and album. They have sold more than 10 million records worldwide.

As of 2013, they are the sixteenth richest reality TV stars in the UK, with an estimated fortune of £6 million per member.

Unfortunately, the band recently announced that they would split after their final album and tour. However sad we may be, they have definitely put a stamp on the music business and somehow I don't quite think they have left the music field for good.

Little Mix

They made X Factor history when they became the first band to win the show in 2011. Mentored by Tulisa, the group, which consists of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall, managed to get all the way to the finals and be crowned winners of the talent show.
Branded 'The Next Spice Girls,' the girls originally auditioned as solo artist, just like the One Direction lads, but failed to make it past boot camp's first challenge, thankfully, the judges decided to give them another chance as part of a group.
They began the journey titled 'Rhythmix' but following a dispute they changed to the name we all now know, Little Mix.
There first single, 'Cannonball,' was released 14 December 2011 which made it to the number one spot on the Irish singles chart.
2012 saw the girls first number one with 'Wings' which was followed shortly after with their debut album "DNA."
2013 allowed for a collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning musician, Missy Elliott, on the track of "How Ya Doin'?" The song attracted a sponsorship deal from hair dye Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL.

The girls bagged themselves a deal with Vivid and Bravado to release their own range of products including dolls, puzzles, accessories and games and brought out an autobiography 'Ready to Fly.' The girls have even tried to crack America releasing there debut single "Wings" in 2013.

Winning the show just 2 years ago, they have achieved a lot over the months and have proved that they definitely have The X Factor.
Olly Murs

The cheeky chap who has rose to success after becoming the runner up on the sixth series of the show in 2009, has had a great couple of years.

He released his first single "Please Don't Let Me Go' which debut at number one in the UK which also received a gold certificate by the BPI (British Recorded Music Industry).

His second number one hit was with "Heart Skips A Beat" and he later achieved his third number one with "Dance With Me Tonight."

His self-titled debut album reached the UK album chart at number two, but he did achieve a new record with the album, as it had the biggest sales in one week than any other debut album in 2010, selling 108,000 albums and went on to sell 600,000.

Murs released his second album in 2011 which reached the number one spot in the album charts along with two hit singles from the album worthy or the number one spot.

To date, Olly has sold over 10 million records worldwide.
As well as being a talented singer, his chatty and friendly personality has seen him co-present The Xtra Factor.

Olly continues to release hit after hit and it seems as though he will be on our radios for a few more years, at least.

Leona Lewis

She became the winner in the third series of The X Factor in 2006 and went on to gain great success.

Her debut single 'A Moment Like This' broke a world record after it was downloaded 50,000 times in thirty minutes and later became the Christmas number one and maintained the position for four weeks.

She released her debut album the following year in 2007, 'Spirit,' which sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
The most successful song from the album was 'Bleeding Love' which reached number one in over 30 countries around the world and became the best-selling single worldwide in 2008.

Leona Lewis was definitely showing that she was worthy of being crowned the winner of The X Factor and was proclaimed 'Top New Artist' by Billboard magazine in 2008.
She has achieved nine top-ten hits in the UK and has been nominated for seven Brits awards and three Grammy Awards. The success continues with a staggering 20 million records sold worldwide.

Following albums include Echo which was released in 2009 and 'Glassheart' which preceded the single Collide became her seventh top-five hit in the UK.
