Itâs already been an incredible 2008 for One eskimO. Back in the spring, the band won the hugely-coveted Public Choice Best Music Video at the British Animation Awards (a gong previously won by the Gorillaz) for their track âHometimeâ.
Since winning, the band have spent the last couple of months tucked away creating an additional collection of beautiful and bespoke animations to help further portray their music. Alongside eskimO himself, Penguin, Giraffe and Monkey now feature in a clutch of beautiful animations under the One eskimO banner.
But it doesnât end there and to be perfectly frank it has only just begun. For the band have also just finished recording their debut album âAll Balloonsâ, aided and abetted by Rollo Armstrong of Faithless.
Theyâve also been airing their animation at the rather luxurious Everyman Cinema Club in London. âHometimeâs award-winning animation has been showing before each feature film at the cinema club and the partnership will culminate in a national tour with the band performing live against the full animation later in the year.
One eskimO will also be taking over the band-stand at Londonâs Screen On The Street on September 22nd. This initiative sees Everyman Cinema Club team up with Islington council and turf over Liverpool Rd where 20,000+ visitors will celebrate film, art and of course music.
One eskimO will be performing a series of acoustic gigs across the event alongside their award-winning animation.
Car giants Toyota are also fans and âHometimeâ has been picked up for their environmentally aware âWhy Not?â campaign. So it looks like big things lie ahead for the little eskimO and his musical chumsâ¦
âAll Balloonsâ is scheduled for release in early 2009. It will be preceded by the digital track and animation for âHometimeâ and the bandâs first official single âKandiâ (which can be heard on the bandâs Myspace page now).
