The Arcade Fire at Reading Festival

Arcade Fire headlining Reading Festival was unforgettable. The set played all the classics and material off their latest album “The Suburbs” and the crowd loved it. When they were first announced as headliners for the famous festival, everyone was on the fence about whether they would pull off being in the headlining slot, but we shouldn’t have worried. Reading Festival has given this band a whole lot of new fans which will hopefully mean more tour dates in the UK. We can only hope.

I personally hope 2011 will see more headlining performances from the band.

Glastonbury Festival 2010

Yes this festival makes the list every year but why wouldn’t it?! The festival keeps getting better each year despite the unpredictable weather. So many great bands appeared this year with Indie bands taking centre stage. Florence The Machine, Editors, Imogen Heap, Kate Nash and We Are Scientists to name a few first class acts. The weather held out for the festival this year unlike in previous years where tents were floating.

2011’s line up has yet to be announced (the line up will be up on the official website in the Spring) but there is no doubt in my mind that it’ll be just as good as this year. Tickets have sold out for 2011 but keep checking on their official website as they release cancelled tickets back on sale for last minute purchases. Just don’t be disappointed if you don’t get a ticket because they sell like hot cakes.

BBC Sound Of 2011

The final top 15 have been announced, recognising the bands that have been busy promoting themselves and trying to break into the industry.

BBC Sound of 2011 celebrates the works of the less popular and bring them out into the spotlight. The likes of Little Boots, Mika and Ellie Goulding have the BBC to thank for their recognition and success.

This year Indie bands have dominated the majority of the finalist slots, with Warpaint, Mona and Yuck being just three of the nominees. Ellie Goulding won the prestigious award last year. With so much experimental music, I would find it hard to choose a winner so whoever wins will be deserving regardless. Such great bands this year.
