Amy Schumer is one of the most talked about actresses of the summer as she returns to the big screen with new comedy Trainwreck. The movie has already enjoyed success in the U.S. and is now set for release here in the UK.

Schumer is no stranger to the big screen, but Trainwreck is set to mark her first major lead role and she has also penned the screenplay for the film. This really does look set to be the role and film project that will send her star rocketing.
Schumer may now be finding success in film, but it was in the theatre and with stand-up that she first started making a name for herself before making the leap into television.
But it was stand-up where she found some early success performing at the Gotham Comedy Club before going on to appear on Last Comic Standing on NBC. It was the fifth season of the talent show and Schumer made it to the final and finished fourth. She widely regards it as being a major breakthrough moment in her career.
Since then, we have seen her mix different television projects with Cupid, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Delocated, and Louie all under her belt. She has also been a familiar face on Comedy Central with appearances on Comedy Central Presents, as well as the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen and Roseanne Barr.
By 2013, Schumer had landed her own show - Inside Amy Schumer - and it was this show, in which she played herself and various other characters, that really did give her career a major boost.
Since the start of the show in 2013, Inside Amy Schumer has just been nominated for 5 Emmys including Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Schumer has also picked up Critics' Choice Television Awards and TCA Awards for her work on the comedy series.
Today, Schumer is one of the women that is at the forefront of comedy and she is set to extend that onto the big screen with new film Trainwreck.
As well as taking on the central role of Amy in the film, Schumer has also penned the screenplay, while Judd Apatow is back in the director's chair. Apatow has been behind movies such as The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up but this is his first film since This is 40 back in 2012.
A terrific cast has been assembled for the film as Schumer is joined by Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, John Cena, and Oscar winner Tilda Swinton - who looks almost unrecognisable in her role as Dianna.
Trainwreck went to become Apatow's second biggest debut as a director - behind Knocked Up - as the movie enjoyed huge success on its opening weekend. So far, the movie has grossed $91.1 million at the U.S. box office and looks set to be a big hit here in the UK.
As well as being a box office hit, Trainwreck has also been winning over the critics and is one of the biggest and most successful comedy films of 2015 so far.
Schumer has been lighting up the red carpet this summer and is the actress' name that is on just about everyone's lips. Trainwreck is set to be a huge hit for Schumer - showing off both her acting and writing abilities - and I can't wait to see where her career go from here and what she does next.
