Robert Downey Jr has confirmed that a third Sherlock Holmes movie is in the pipeline.
Downey Jr has played the super-sleuth on two occasions in the Guy Ritchie directed series, and a third outing is on the cards.
The actor was asked about the franchise during a question and answer session on Reddit, to which he said: "Yes, we have a Sherlock 3 in development.
"We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty tall order."
Downey Jr played Holmes for the first time back in 2009 in Sherlock Holmes; a performance for which he won a Golden Globe.
He and Jude Law - who takes on the role of Watson - reprised their roles two years later in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
A third Sherlock film has been rumoured for some time, but now we have it from the horses mouth that we will be getting another instalment.
Downey Jr is set to return to the big screen this autumn in The Judge, which sees him team up with Robert Duvall and director David Dobkin.
The Judge opened the Toronto International Film Festival last month, and follows a lawyer who returns home to defend his father.
Downey Jr has also completed work on the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he will reprise the role of Tony Stark for the first time since the success of Iron Man 3.
