Gerard Butler has revealed that he picked up a string of injuries while working on his new action movie Olympus Has Fallen.
The movie sees Butler trying to rescue the President of the United States after the White House comes under siege - and it was an action role that Butler just threw himself into.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "I broke two little bones in my neck. My arm turned black from getting punched in my arm for literally two days. It looked like a dead person's arm, it was weird.
"I hurt my throat, I don't even know how that happened. But you know what, that's all part of it.
"You're in it! And you come out feeling like you're really in the White House fighting terrorists."
Olympus Has Fallen sees Antoine Fuqua back in the director's chair while Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart are also on the cast list.
This is the first big screen outing for Butler since his appearance in Movie 43 as he teams up with director Fuqua for the first time.
Sadly we will not be seeing too much more of Butler on the big screen this year but the actor has a string of projects in the pipeline.
He is currently adding his voice to How To Train Your Dragon 2 and he has been linked to Dynamo and Thunder Run.
Olympus Has Fallen is released 17th April.
