Cate Blanchett says that she has been 'incredibly lucky' with her acting career.
Blanchett is back on the big screen this week as she teams up with Woody Allen for the first time in Blue Jasmine.
Blue Jasmine is a movie that has been winning over critics and Blanchett is the early favourite for the Best Actress Oscar for her central performance.
Speaking to Total Film the actress said: "I'd seen a lot of actors, brilliant actors who didn't work very often and obviously particularly when you're starting out there's more rejection than there is acceptance.
"I said I'll give myself five years because I didn't think that I'm of strong enough mettle to deal with rejection so I've been incredibly, incredibly lucky."
Blanchett went to describe acting work as a 'passionate affair' that she has never been able to quit.
"I always say I'm going to quit, after every job. Your work is an affair that takes you away from your life.
"It has to be a passionate affair in order to make you cheat on your family so I'm always saying, 'This is the last time I'm going to cheat.' But it's very seductive."
And we are going to be seeing plenty of Blanchett on the big screen over the coming months as she has completed work on The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, The Monuments Men, Knight of Cups as well as an untitled Terrence Malick film.
Blue Jasmine is out now.
