There has been a lot of talk this year about Jolie leaving her acting career behind, and it looks like that could well be on the cards for the Oscar winners.

Speaking to Du Jour, Jolie said: "I've never been comfortable as an actor - I've never loved being in front of the camera," Jolie told Du Jour.

"I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier."

Jolie has made just one big screen outing this year as she took on the title role in the smash hit summer film Maleficent - a new take on the Sleeping Beauty story that we all know so well.

The movie went on to gross over $757 million at the global box office, making it the third highest grossing movie of the year behind Transformers: Age of Extinction and Guardians of the Galaxy.

She is set to return to the director's chair with Unbroken, which is a biopic about Olympian and prisoner of war Louis Zamperini and she has just finished filming By The Sea.

By The Sea will see her star and direct in the same movie for the first time, as she reunites with Brad Pitt. This will also be the first time that she has directed Pitt.

Jolie is set to play Cleopatra in a new film and this could well be her final acting performance, as she looks set to focus on her career in the director's chair.

Unbroken is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender, and Jolie could well find herself in the running for the Best Director Oscar at the beginning of next year.
