Richard Gere has dislocated his shoulder filming a stunt for his new movie The Double.
The actor is starring alongside British star Tamer Hassan in the movie and Hassan has revealed that Gere refused to use a body double in the movie and was injured whist performing the stunt.
Production has been halted on the film to give Gere time to recover from the injury.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph Hassan said: "We had been rehearsing for four weeks every night and Richard was great, but he had a problem with his shoulder.
"I said, 'Look Richard, just slip in where you can'. But, oh no, not Richard, he went: 'I want to do it'. He did it and dislocated his shoulder.
"The production was shut down for six weeks because of Richard's shoulder and I just got told on Monday that he is going to come back and do it himself again. So fair play to him, and he looks as beautiful as he always did."
Gere was last seen on the big screen back in June with his cop movie Brooklyn's Finest but he has also finished work on Henry and Men, which he lent his voice to.
The Double is just one of three projects, including State of Union and The Emperor's Children that the actor has in the pipeline.
