Mia Wasikowska has revealed that she was interested in taking on the role of Jane Eyre before the project was even announced.
The actress was blown away by the book when she read it back in 2009 she inquired as to whether there was a movie in the pipeline.
Two years later the actress has completed work on the movie, in which she takes on the title role, which also stars Michael Fassbender as Rochester.
Speaking to PopEater the actress said: "I was reading the book in the middle of 2009 before I knew any project was on the horizon.
"I was half way through it, and I emailed my agent, 'This is fantastic, is there a script around, or is it being developed?'"
"Nothing was there at the time, but two months later she e-mailed me the script, and I met with [director] Cary [Fukunaga]. It was really good timing."
"The chances of it actually happening were so small, so it was kind of amazing."
We haven't seen Wasikowska on the big screen since the critically acclaimed The Kids Are All Right at the end of last year.
But she has already finished work on Restless and Stainless Steel and is currently filming The Wettest Country In The World.
Jane Eyre is released 9th September.
