David Baddiel is to make his directorial debut with a film for Sky 1. The Norris McWhirter Chronicles, written and directed by David Baddiel, sees appearances from Alistair Mcgowan, Lee Mack, John Thomson (The Fast Show, Cold Feet) and Frank Skinner with music by Erran Baron Cohen and follows the box office success of David Baddiel’S critically acclaimed feel-good comedy The Infidel, starring Omid Djalili, Richard Schiff, Miranda Hart and Matt Lucas, which has sold to over 20 territories internationally.

The Norris McWhirter Chronicles will form part of the Little Crackers season of festive films to be shown on the channel from 19th December.  Other comics making short films in this season include Bill Bailey, Kathy Burke, Dawn French and Stephen Fry.

The Norris McWhirter Chronicles, which is a faithful retelling of a true story, takes us to 1978. Record Breakers is at the height of its popularity and the latest guest speaker at teenage David Baddiel’s school is none other than editor of the Guinness Book of Records, Norris Mcwhirter. This is a man famed for being right.

The voice of authority on Record Breakers, there is no fact he can’t recall. But is this respected man of intellect always correct? Young David’s future knowledge and further encounters of Norris suggest otherwise...

The Norris McWhirter Chronicles marks the end of a very busy year for David Baddiel.  The last twelve months alone have seen him release his long-awaited film The Infidel to critical acclaim and reunite with Frank Skinner to exclusively present a series of shows from the World Cup in South Africa for Absolute Radio, (which have attracted over 3 million downloads).

David Baddiel is currently working on a forth novel, following his three previously acclaimed titles and recently hosted the Galaxy National Book Awards for More4.

He has also written a new film, Romeo and Brittney, starring Karen Gillan and Robert Sheehan, which he will direct in Spring next year.
