Avatar is back at the top of the UK box office after being toppled by Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel last week.
But having taken just under £6 million this weekend James Cameron’s epic sci-fi smash has comfortably regained the top spot.
Avatar dominates the global box office this week as it also holds onto the #1 spot in America. The film has now grossed in excess of £32.8 million in the UK alone and has broken through the $1 billion barrier.
Guy Ritchie’s offering Sherlock Holmes has risen one place to two during it‘s second week of release, after opening at number three.
The movie sees Robert Downey Jr and Jude law team up as Holmes and Dr Watson in a new spin on a classic tale. There is already a sequel in the pipeline.
Alvin and the Chipmunks fell two places to this week’s number three while Did You Hear About the Morgans? Was the first new entry at four.
After struggling at the box office Nine moved up one place from six to five while St Trinian’s 2: Legend of Fritton’s Gold dropped one place to six.
3 Idiot was down three places from four to seven while Nowhere Boy, the biopic about the early life of John Lennon was down one place at eight.
