Max Irons

Max Irons

We have already looked a collection of actors to watch out for this year and Max Irons is one of them.

Irons only kicked off his career back in 2004 but during that time he has moved between TV and films and worked on some great projects.

He may only have one film release this year but The Host has the potential to be a huge success as it is the latest Stephenie Meyer novel to be adapted for the big screen.

He kicked off his career in Being Julia back in 2004 and went on to appear in the likes of Unrequited Love and Dorian Gray.

But it was 2011 when he really grabbed everyone's attention as he teamed up with director Catherine Hardwicke for her new take on Red Riding Hood.

Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman and Shiloh Fernandez were also on the cast list in was a gothic take on the well known tale.

He moved into TV with The Runaway that same year and we are going to be seeing him return to television with The White Queen.

The White Queen is based on Philippa Gregory's best selling historical novel series The Cousin’s War and is set to be screened on BBC 1.

The series will be set to the backdrop of the War of the Roses and will follow the women that find themselves caught up in the battle for the throne of England.

Irons is set to play Edward IV of England in the series and is joined on the cast list by David Oakes and Amanda Hale.

But Irons' big project this year comes in the form of The Host - which is set to be one of the sci-fi films not to miss this year.

Stephenie Meyer adaptations have enjoyed huge success in recent year as The Twilight Saga has dominated the box office so could The Host replicate that success?

The movie marks the return to the director's chair for Andrew Niccol, who has also penned the screenplay.

The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy.

Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

Irons takes on the role of Jared Howe in the film and is joined on the cast list by Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger, Jake Abel and William Hurt.

Irons is also set to film Vivaldi this year, in which he will take on the central role of Antonio Vivaldi.

The film is a biography of his early life and is directed by Boris Damast and will star Elle Fanning and Neve Campbell.

2013 looks set to be a busy year for the actor and we are set to see his star rise even further.

The Host is released 29th March.
