Not content with being one of the biggest TV shows of the past few years Glee is now venturing onto the big screen this week with Glee: The Movie.
Directed by Kevin Tancharoen the movie is a concert documentary shot during the Glee Live! In Concert! summer 2011 tour.
So to celebrate the release of the movie we take a look at the five biggest grossing concert films of all time.
1. Michael Jackson: This Is It - $261m
Sadly this was a movie about a concert that never was as Michael Jackson passed away before performing at the O2.
Director Kenny Ortega was aboard the project and produced a movie that showed rehearsals and backstage footage of Michael Jackson as he prepared for his series of sold-out shows in London.
It was a final homage to the King of Pop and, as you may expect, fans flocked to cinemas all over the globe to say a fond farewell.
The movie was met well by the critics and went on to gross in excess of $261 million and the global box office.
2. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - $98.4m
Everywhere you look at the moment it’s Bieber fever the teenager has a successful music career and a clothing line but moved into movies earlier this year.
Directed by Jon. M Chu the movie follows Bieber in the ten day run up to his huge performance in Madison Square Garden in New York in 2010 - as well as showing footage from his My World Tour.
The movie was a rip roaring success as it grossed over $98.4 million during its theatrical run - performing particularly well at the U.S. box office.
3. Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds - $70.6m
Miley Cyrus is another young Hollywood star who has enjoyed multiple successes in a handful of mediums; as Hannah Montana on TV as well as a singing career as both Montana and herself.
In 2008 she stepped into the big screen with Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert - which was from her tour in 2007.
The movie was a success at both the box office - taking over $70 million and on the Disney Channel when it premiered to an audience of 20.6 million viewers.
4. Madonna: Truth or Dare - $29.012m
Madonna is an artist who has done a bit of everything in her career so it comes as no surprise that she too has had a concert movie, and one that was very successful.
Truth or Dare was released back in 1991, yes twenty years ago, and was directed by Alek Keshishian.
The movie followed the singer during her 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. The movie was met well by the critics and went on to perform well.
Madonna: Truth or Dare grossed over $29 million worldwide.
5. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience - $23m
The Jonas Brothers highlighted their popularity in 2009 with the Bruce Hendricks directed movie.
The movie was a a 3-D concert film of the 2008 Jonas Brothers "Burning Up" concert tour, as well as documentary footage on the lives of the three brothers.
The movie enjoyed most of its success in America as it took over $19 million in the U.S alone.
