The Hangover Part II

The Hangover Part II

We may have seen a couple of comedy projects do well at the box office this year but it has to be said it has been quite a poor year for this genre.

Yes sadly I haven’t seen any comedy movies that set the world alight but we will looks back over some of the movies that have graced the big screen over the last twelve months.

The Hangover - Part II - it was back in 2009 when we were all blown away by Todd Phillips’ The Hangover, a movie that is as funny now as when I saw it for the first time.

After the success of the first movie a sequel was inevitable - here is a little tip stick with the original as this is a massive disappointment.

This is now a sequel but a remake - yes this movie is EXACTLY the same just set in a different country and with fewer laughs.

Despite the film being a pale imitation of its predecessor the movie was a huge success at the box office and a third instalment is believed to be in the pipeline.

Bridesmaids - everyone raved about this movie when it was released earlier this year but I am sorry I really didn’t see what all the fuss was about.

This movie tried too hard to be the female version of The Hangover and it seemed more intent on being foul-mouthed and gross than actually funny.

Having said all that it’s great to see a female comedy do so well as the box office as they really are few and far between.

The Dilemma - when you see Ron Howard team up with a cast that includes Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder you are do expect to see a pretty decent movie.

Howe wrong was I as this was seriously one of the worst movies that I have seen all year.

The be all and end all of it is this... The Dilemma is simply void of any humour - something I find is rather necessary in a comedy movie.

This is just one of the worst movies that I have watched this year as it is more interested in slapstick that producing anything that is truly funny - I suspect that we have all come to expect better from everyone involved.

Cedar Rapids - another utterly terrible comedy project to hit the big screen this year was Cedar Rapids, much like The Dilemma there are no words to describe how terrible this movie is.

The major problem with this movie is nothing really happens, it is really boring, not to mention not very funny - the comic talents of the likes of Ed Helms and John C. Reilly totally going to waste.

Unfortunately the script is just really weak with uninteresting characters that you couldn’t really give two hoots about.

Horrible Bosses - this was one of the better comedies to hit the big screen this year as the cast included Jason Bateman, Kevin Spacey, Colin Ferrell and Jennifer Aniston.

There is great camaraderie and chemistry between the three leads - who all wants to bump off their bosses - and there are more laughs than the likes of The Hangover Part II & Bridesmaids.
