We never thought we'd take fashion inspiration from a Fruit Pastille lolly but we're now eating our words as different blocks of colours are the latest word in style thanks to designers such as Alexander Wang and Josh Goot.
Colour blocking has always been a big trend for spring/summer with bright colours coming out after months of black and grey, but the look now has a twist with blocks of different colour been brought in to one outfit. The celebrity world was quick to get in on the act with actresses Lindsay Lohan and Diane Kruger and models Alexandra Richards and Missy Peregrym all seen in the same Alexander Wang number.
The trick with this look is to go for bright colours, embrace the spring trends! Clashing colours works well for this trend too, particularly pinks and yellows, great for summer.
The horizontal blocks will create curves on skinny girls but those of you who already have great curves, stick to darker shades around the hips for a flattering effect.
The look isn't just about dresses though, you can mix it up with different coloured tops and skirts that you probably already own. We love nothing more than a budget friendly trend!
If you do want to treat yourself to something new than try these pieces. The blue Topshop top, £18 uses the same colour combination as Alexander Wang's celebrity favourite dress. If you don't want to be too bright go for this rare dress, £42, the black colour is nice and subtle but it has the on trend colour block pattern on the waist.
Finally, try this River Island skirt, £29.99. The orange shade is going to be a hot colour this season and you can team it with lots of different block colour tops to get loads of different looks out of it!
