Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Naomi Campbell and Kylie Minogue are just a few of the stars who have handed over clothing and accessories to their friend, hair stylist James Brown, to sell in aid of charity

David Beckham, Jemima Khan, Jude Law and Kelly Osbourne have also given up items to be sold in an online auction for Cancer Research..

A total of 13 exclusive items of clothing are up for grabs in this one off chance to own a piece of fashion history.

The online auction will raise valuable funds for vital research into the causes and treatment of all forms of cancer, as part of Cancer Research UK’s Make Today Count campaign.

The auction starts on 22 February and ends at midnight on 29 February. All of these items can be seen at the James Brown Collection eBay shop from Friday (22) on www.jamesbrownlondon.com/MTC.

Further items ranging from Lily Allen and Sienna Miller’s dresses to a coat belonging to Princess Beatrice will be sold in person by James Brown, in a silent auction at the Cancer Research UK shop on Marylebone High Street, London, on 29 February.

James said: "I know first hand the devastating effect cancer can have so I jumped at the chance to do something to help. If we all do something on 29 February, no matter how small, we can all help to make a big difference to Cancer Research UK.”

James Brown is well known for being Kate Moss's hair stylist and he has worked on numerous high-profile fashion shoots, campaigns and catwalk shows, with and without Kate.

In 2001 he was named the Elle Style Awards Hairdresser of the Year. He was the youngest hair stylist to get a Vogue front cover to his name than any other hairdresser: plus an array of A-list clients including Sarah Jessica Parker, The Beckhams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kirsten Dunst, Johnny Depp, Amber Valetta, Julianne Moore and Gisele Bundchen.

Cancer Research UK is adopting 29 February, 2008’s extra day, for the one-off campaign, raising much-needed funds for vital research into the causes and treatments of all forms of cancer. Beating cancer is a cause close to James Brown’s heart and so he rounded up key pieces of fashion from good friends who were only too keen to help him raise as much money as possible.

Cancer Research UK is asking people to join James in having fun and raising money at the same time by taking part in Make Today Count on 29 February. Whether it’s holding a fundraising dinner party, buying a pin badge from the shops, donating clothes or sending an e-card – we can all come together and make our extra day count.

More than a quarter of a million people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK. Thanks to Cancer Research UK’s work, thousands of people are surviving cancer today who wouldn't have survived ten years ago. The charity needs your help to continue this work. So please do something, however big or small, on 29 February and help Cancer Research UK beat cancer. Visit www.cancerresearchuk.org/maketodaycount for more details.

Last year Cancer Research UK’s 600 shops raised £52m from clothing, accessory and homeware donations. The charity always needs help to generate new, good-quality stock for its shops. One of the ways you can do this right now is to get involved with Give Get.

The campaign, run by Cancer Research UK and TK Maxx, is the UK’s largest charity clothing and homeware collection. Simply sort out the good quality clothes or items that you no longer need, pop them in a bag and drop it off at any GiveGet collection point in one of over 200 TK Maxx stores nationwide between 23 February and 9 March. All stock donated will then be sold in Cancer Research UK’s shops. Each bag of good quality donated items could be worth up to £30. Visit www.tkmaxx.com/giveget.
