The RSPCA has issued a stark warning threatening legal action against dog owners who 'over-dress' their pets.
This latest news could spell disaster for the fashion industry, where canine couture is a big business in the UK and designers, such as Vivienne Westwood and Ben de Lisi already have a range of dog outfits, as part of their labels.
Harrods even hosts an annual fashion show for dogs, naming it Pet-A-Porter, where dogs line up to take part in a 'dog walk' wearing various outfits.
However, all of that could come to an end now as officials have claimed that putting fashion items, such as trousers and shoes on dogs can be harmful and could lead to their owners being prosecuted, if they feel that they are at risk, reports The Daily Mail.
That said, experts have also said that there are some occasions where dressing your dog up is acceptable, particularly if they are small and have short hair, so that they can keep warm against the cold weather.
