Angelina Jolie has been making quite an impact recently on the Red Carpet, her Versace gown at the Golden Globes was stunning, then just the other day she made an interesting choice in her Jenny Packham black gown at the SAG Awards.
But the most noticeable thing about her looks has been the veiny hands. Yes, she make look absolutely stunning and could rival a girl half her age with her slender figure. But the actress can't full well disguise her age when it comes to her hands - well, unless she plans on wearing gloves everywhere.
But it's not only Ange who suffers from this. Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna are notorious for their aged hands too.
For women like these, who have a slim and toned figure but priminent veins on their hands and arms, this can be something that's easy to feel self-conscious about. But thanks to the doctors at The Private Clinic of Harley Street, they need not worry anymore.
A new treatment for removing unwanted and unsightly veins on the hands and arms is now availavble for the first time in the UK.
The treatment uses the same technology used in the laser treatment available for the removal of varicose veins from legs, but advancements have now made it possible to use a similar method to rid arms and hands of the prominent, bulging veins.
Only around 50 patients in the world have undergone this pioneering treatment, 10 of which have been performed at The Private Clinic of Harley Street by Consultant Vascular Surgeon Mr Costas Kyriakides.
Mr Kyriakides, says: “Previously, repeated treatments with sclerotherapy and phlebectomies were the only way available for removing the bulging veins on the hands and arms like the ones that Angelina Jolie has been pictured with recently. These very prominent veins are more of a problem for women who, like Angelina Jolie, are slim and toned because there is not much fat to cover the veins in the arms.
“Unlike varicose veins on the legs, these kind of protruding veins don’t have any health implications for the patient, but because they are on the hands and lower arms they cannot be hidden or disguised and the patients that have come to see me are often very self conscious about it.”
Mr Kyriakides continues; “This new laser treatment means we can now quickly and easily erase the veins from view. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and takes around half an hour per hand. It is a walk-in walk-out treatment and patients can resume normal activity almost immediately.”
