The stunning Ukrainian beauty Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, Hitman) stars in the award winning The Ring Finger; a surreal yet erotic and mindbending drama, from French director Diane Bertrand, that explores the nature of sexual control, from the physical to the psychological.
The Ring Finger will be released on DVD on 3 November 2008 courtesy of Second Sight.
Slicing off her ring finger at the factory where she works, Iris (Kurylenko) finds herself taking new employment as a laboratory assistant for a tightly wound curator whose business specialises in preserving the memories of its clientele.
Unaware of it at first, Iris drifts into an increasingly erotic and fetishistic relationship with her employer, all the while pining for the attention of an ethereal, enigmatic sailor who shares her hotel room during the hours she is at work.
Kurylenko, the next Bond girl, gives an intriguing and arousing performance as Iris, saying as much - and often times more with her face and body than she ever does with her words.
The relationship she has with her employer is as psychologically complex as it is physically stimulating, and it gives an eyeopening take on the notion of fetishistic control.
Acknowledging the sexuality that drives the picture, director Bertrand produces a film that, while eccentric and oftentimes psychologically challenging, is sexy, sensual and not afraid to show it. Led by the stunning Kurylenko, The Ring Finger, is an arousing and thought provoking experience.
