Debra Stephenson will always be ‘that woman from Bad Girls’ to me, but as she has proven she’s got some awesome dancing feet after teaming up with Let’s Dance Sport Relief, we caught up with her to ask the 15 questions we ask everyone.
Q. Hello there little monster, what are you up to?
Over and above being a mother of two, I’ve been busy practising my impressions skill, as well as working busily on Let’s Dance. Most importantly I’m launching a search to find skilled kids in Britain..... As a mum of two myself, I know how important it is to encourage your kids to get involved in a variety of different skills as they grow up. Experiencing lots of different things is what being a kid is all about and it helps make the most of their childhood.
Q. So, tell me a bit about what you’re here to promote?
At the moment I am working with Fruit Shoot, championing their Skills campaign which is all about getting kids practising loads of different, cool, fun skills! We’re looking for skilled kids in Britain to star in a new TV ad, so if you think your kid would love the chance to be in a cool new TV ad, then all you have to do is take them along to an audition and there’s one coming to a city near you very soon.
Q. And if we didn’t have any clue as to who you were, what should we be looking up on Google?
The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson
Q. And as Jacko had the Moonwalk and Elvis had the snake hips, what do you have that makes you unique?
My impressions!
Q. Now, clearly we need to get to know each other more, so tell me an interesting fact about you that no-one else knows?
The famous artist George Houseman-Thomas is my ancestor
Q. What song do you wish you’d written?
‘Something’ by George Harrison
Q. If I was contemplating coming to your show or just sitting at home watching TV, how would you convince me to come out?
I would tell you to stay at home and watch my impressions show!
Q. And if you were to take me on a trip to your hometown, what would be the first place we’d go?
The Deep in Hull – it’s Europe’s biggest aquarium and a great place to take kids
Q. What’s the best prank you’ve ever pulled on someone?
One of my friends was working for a charity and spent a day filming with Lorraine Kelly. I rang up my friend at the end of the day and pretended to be Lorraine, thanking her for her help during the filming – it made her day – she fell for it hook, line and sinker!
Q. And what’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Please tell us how it ended up!
Dressing up and dancing on stage like Michael Jackson for Sport Relief (I think you know how that ended!)
Q. If you had to date a member of the same sex (or opposite sex if the case may be) who would it be?
Marge Simpson, because she is gorgeous!
Q. Have you ever been naked in public? Elaborate.
Not naked, but I was once locked out of my house in my only my dressing gown! I had to borrow some clothes and knickers off my neighbour so that I could go to work!
Q. Have you ever been arrested? Again, elaborate.
Nope, but I have spent a night in jail (admittedly it was for a TV documentary!)
Q. Speaking of prison - if you were to send someone to prison for crimes against music, who would it be?
Metallica
Q. What were you doing last night at 11?
Fast asleep in the land of nod
