Lady Gaga has says she feels "betrayed" by those closest to her.
The 30-year-old pop megastar is set to release her as-yet-untitled sixth studio album this year, and has opened up about the content of the record, stating that there is "a lot of rage" present in the tracks.
During an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, the hitmaker said: "I've been betrayed by all types of people in my life and thought an illusion was put out to bait me in some kind of way. There's a lot of rage on the album. There's going to be a lot of personal things on that record that are written through the lyrics and the music.
Gaga - who dropped her new single 'Perfect Illusion' - also stated that after releasing her last solo album 'Artpop' in 2013, she needed time to "stabilise", and felt "traumatised" by the fame she received when her career took off. She confessed to taking medication to help her deal with the stress, but insisted she wouldn't encourage young people to turn to chemical help.
She said: "I needed a moment to stabilise. When my career took off, I don't remember anything at all. It's like I'm traumatised. I needed time to re-calibrate my soul. I take medication. I'm not saying I feel good because of the medication - I wouldn't encourage young people to take anti-depressants or mood stabilisers. I openly admit to having battled depression and anxiety and I think a lot of people do. I think it's better when we all say: 'Cheers!' And 'fess up to it."
Gaga's claims of an apparent betrayal come after she split from her ex-fiancé Taylor Kinney, 35, who she has hinted is the muse for 'Perfect Illusion'.
She said: "'Perfect Illusion' is also about relationships being in love and so high and intoxicated with someone that you are unable to see that the relationship was not what you thought it was."
