Kristen Bell proposed to Dax Shepard on Twitter on Wednesday (26.06.13).
The 'Veronica Mars' star, who vowed not to wed until same sex marriage was legalised in California, popped the question to the 'Parenthood' star after the Supreme Court cleared the way for the resumption of same-sex marriage and struck down the Defence of Marriage Act (DOMA) provision denying federal benefits to married gay couples.
The 32-year-old actress shared her joy over the ruling on Twitter, and then re-proposed to her fiancé to celebrate, writing: "@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove""
Dax, 38, has yet to directly respond but suggested that he can't wait to finally walk down the aisle with his fiancee as well, writing: "DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let's bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!"
The couple, who welcomed their daughter Lincoln into the world in March, originally got engaged in January 2010 but were waiting for marriage to be legal for all couples before they tied the knot.
Kristen previously said: "The reason we're not rushing to get married is because I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my (gay and lesbian) friends.
"I'll feel more comfortable having a party - or whatever we have, if anything - if half of our friends who are homosexuals (can celebrate). It's just kind of rude to invite everyone to a party for a rite not everyone can hold."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have expressed a similar opinion in the past.
